Job Description

We are currently seeking a talented UX Researcher to join our team. As our UX Researcher, you'll be the voice of our users, focusing on the US market. You'll dive deep into understanding the diverse world of American angling—from the bass fishing culture of Florida to the salmon runs of the Pacific Northwest. You'll work closely with our Product Managers, Product Designers and Engineering teams on core app development, focusing on discovery research to understand user needs and usability of our product.

This is a full-time position and reports to our Product Director. You'll collaborate across our cross-functional product teams, often taking the lead on early-stage product discovery.

  • Lead end-to-end research projects that directly inform product strategy and business decisions
  • Conduct research studies using mixed methodologies: usability testing, user interviews, surveys, diary studies, and other tools of your craft.
  • Research the diverse angling cultures across US regions to inform localized features and content
  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Product Designers, and Engineering teams on core app development
  • Translate research findings into actionable recommendations that influence product roadmaps
  • Present research insights to stakeholders through compelling reports and presentations
  • Support a validation-first approach for new features, as well as conducting early-stage discovery research to help us prioritize our roadmaps
  • Identify and solve UX pain points in catch logging, content sharing, and user journey flows
  • Lead discovery workshops with the cross-functional development team and stakeholders to generate research hypotheses

Requirements:
  • Strong understanding and experience in user research principles, with both quantitative and qualitative methodologies
  • Deep understanding of consumer app research
  • Proven track record of research directly impacting product strategy and business outcomes
  • Mixed-methods expertise: usability testing, interviews, surveys, A/B testing, data analysis
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and collaborative mindset
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with research tools (Lookback, Dovetail, Typeform)
  • US market knowledge and understanding of regional cultural differences
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills in English
  • Remote work experience with the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment

Experience Requirements

  • 5+ years of UX research experience with both quantitative and qualitative methodologies
  • Experience working closely with Product Managers, Product Designers, and Engineering teams
  • Solid experience with analytics support tools and research platforms
  • Proven track record of conducting research that influences product decisions across various platforms (iOS, Android, web)

Bonus (Not Required)

  • Outdoor recreation or fishing background
  • Product market research experience
  • Experience integrating AI tools into research workflows
  • Psychology, human-computer interaction, or related degree (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Ability to work with Amplitude and Tableau.
