Position Overview
One of the primary purposes of this position is to integrate data, and to coordinate and improve the timeliness, accuracy, completeness, consistency, and accessibility of several large state level traffic safety related databases in the Bureau of Safety Programs and Engineering (BSPE). Another primary purpose is to manage all traffic record projects and aid in the development of the Highway Safety Plan. The objective of this position is to provide data that will help reduce human and economic cost of motor vehicle crashes. Work is performed within the established guidelines of federal and state traffic records pertaining to the information system portion of the Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP).
Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position. As a result, the employee should be aware that if offered non-State employment during state employment or within one year immediately after ending State employment, the employee shall, prior to accepting any such non-State employment offer, notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor (OEIG) or may be subject to a fine.

NOTICE: P lease note that this position is one of many IDOT positions that has been identified as one that is properly a Personnel Code-covered role. This change does not affect the union status, listed duties, job responsibilities, or working title of Traffic Records Coordinator, but does provide the position with additional job protections not previously available.This position will change from the Technical Manager V classification to Transportation Executive II in the near future as part of the completion of this ongoing administrative alignment project.
