Job Description

Position Overview

The Investment Analyst will support the mission of the Investments Office, ensuring that the Foundation’s approximately $6 billion endowment is invested in a manner that (i) provides steady funding for program spending, and (ii) preserves real value, all while maintaining alignment with the Foundation’s overall mission. Specifically, the Investment Analyst will be responsible for (i) assisting with the identification, selection, and monitoring of external investment managers, (ii) analyzing performance, and (iii) contributing to all other aspects of endowment management.

Pay Range: $120,000 - $135,000. This represents the present low and high end of the Foundation’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.

Work Schedule : This is a 3-year term position. Initially, the Investment Analyst will cover private equity (including venture capital, growth equity, buyout, and real assets investments) and report to the Managing Director responsible for managing the private equity portfolio. Over time, the Investment Analyst will have an opportunity to rotate to cover the public equity, fixed income, and hedge fund portfolios.

The Rockefeller Foundation is a hybrid work environment, and the Investment Analyst will be required to be in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with flexibility to work remotely on Fridays. This position is based in New York, NY, with a moderate amount of travel expected.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Work closely with portfolio managers and the full investment team to support all aspects of the investment due diligence process, including (i) participating in and documenting meetings with current and prospective managers and (ii) assisting in the qualitative and quantitative evaluation of existing and prospective managers.
  • Conduct ongoing reviews of individual managers, asset classes, and the overall portfolio using quantitative analyses and third-party resources (e.g., Bloomberg and FactSet).
  • Assist in the development of investment strategy papers/presentations and investment manager recommendations for the CIO and Investment Committee.
  • Perform macroeconomic research and complete other special projects as required.
  • Drive process and quality improvements for data analysis and management.
  • Represent the Rockefeller Foundation at fund managers’ annual meetings and industry conferences.
  • In time, form independent views on investments, managers, and asset allocation.

Education, Experience, And Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree with significant coursework in finance and/or economics preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of work experience at investment firms in related fields.
  • Strong understanding of finance and investing with proven analytical, modeling, and MS Office skills.
