Key Responsibilities: 

As an Emergency Medicine Physician with MEDS, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting rapid and accurate initial patient assessments to determine urgency and necessary interventions.
  • Providing urgent medical treatment and managing a wide range of acute and emergent conditions.
  • Proficiently performing essential medical procedures, including but not limited to intubation, central line placement, and wound care.
  • Interpreting complex diagnostic tests (e.g., lab results, EKGs) and medical imaging (e.g., X-rays, CT scans) to guide patient management.
  • Collaborating seamlessly with nurses, specialists, hospitalists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated and comprehensive patient care plans.
  • Adhering strictly to established protocols, guidelines, and best practices for emergency medical care.
  • Maintaining meticulous and compliant medical coding and documentation standards.

Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine.
  • Current, unrestricted medical license and DEA registration in Mississippi, or ability to obtain prior to start.
  • Post-residency experience in Emergency Medicine is essential.
  • Proven proficiency in all facets of hospital emergency medicine practices.
  • Expertise in airway management and resuscitation techniques across all age groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively diagnose and manage pediatric emergencies.
  • Solid knowledge of public health principles and practices as they apply to emergency care.
  • Strong ability to make swift, sound decisions and manage clinical emergencies effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on compassionate patient interaction and team collaboration.
  • Nice-to-have skills:  Experience or interest in oncology, advanced medical imaging interpretation, and orthopedics related to emergency care.
