Join Our Leadership Team as Director of Operations
Are you a hands-on operations leader with a passion for logistics, cold storage, and retail distribution? We are seeking a dynamic Director of Operations to lead the daily functions of our thriving cold storage facility and mobile ice cream cash & carry business in Hyattsville, MD. This is an exciting opportunity to become the strategic and operational backbone of a rapidly growing, family-owned enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Excellence: Conduct daily walk-throughs, supervise ongoing projects, and ensure cleanliness, safety, and functionality across all areas.
Leadership & Culture: Foster a respectful, family-oriented culture. Lead by example with integrity and a people-first mindset.
Client Relationship Management: Maintain close communication with frozen storage renters and ensure their needs are met proactively.
Inventory Systems Oversight: Evaluate and enhance inventory management systems for improved accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
Ice Cream Operations Growth: Manage and optimize mobile and cash-and-carry ice cream businesses. Drive customer satisfaction and revenue growth.
Staff Development & Cross-Training: Mentor employees, establish cross-training programs, and ensure operational redundancy.
Facility Maintenance: Coordinate maintenance schedules and ensure regulatory compliance.
Strategic Planning: Collaborate with ownership on long-term planning, budgeting, and growth initiatives.
Financial Oversight: Review AR, AP, and P&L reports to ensure financial targets are met.
Qualifications:
Proven leadership experience in operations, preferably in cold storage, logistics, or warehousing
Strong systems thinking and a knack for streamlining operations
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Experience managing facility operations, including maintenance and safety protocols
Proficiency with inventory management and financial tools
Track record of achieving revenue and performance goals
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in freezer/cold storage environments
Familiarity with OSHA standards and safety regulations
Background in retail, mobile distribution, or cash-and-carry
Bilingual in English and Spanish
